US Imposes Sanctions on ICC Prosecutor Karim Khan

President Donald Trump signed executive order Feb. 7 sanctioning court

The US Treasury Department imposed sanctions Thursday on International Criminal Court (ICC) Prosecutor Karim Khan.

Trump accused the world court of engaging in “illegitimate and baseless actions targeting America and our close ally Israel.”

President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Feb. 7 sanctioning the ICC for issuing an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for war crimes in the Gaza Strip.

The sanctions include the freezing of any US assets belonging to Khan or others designated, as well as barring them and their families from visiting the US.

The ICC has condemned the US sanctions, vowing to stand by its staff and “continue providing justice and hope to millions of innocent victims of atrocities across the world, in all situations before it.”
