Israeli Attacks Rock Beirut, kill 3 Lebanese Soldiers in southern Lebanon
Lebanese Army announced that three of its soldiers were killed in an attack by the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) in Bint Jbeil, southern Lebanon.
This comes after US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin urged his ‘Israeli’ counterpart, Yoav Gallant, to avoid targeting the Lebanese Army. According to a statement from the Pentagon, Austin expressed “serious concern” over reports of strikes against Lebanese Armed Forces, emphasizing the need to take all necessary measures to ensure the safety of both the Lebanese military and UN peacekeeping forces (UNIFIL) operating in the region.
In a previous incident, the Lebanese Army Command confirmed that IOF had targeted army personnel in the vicinity of Yater, Bint Jbeil, during a mission to evacuate the wounded, resulting in the deaths of three soldiers, including an officer.
Lebanese sources reported Thursday that ‘Israeli’ warplanes carried out airstrikes on towns in Nabatieh and Tyre districts, in addition to ongoing strikes on Beirut’s southern suburbs.
In related news, Hezbollah launched rocket attacks on the IOF stationed at several locations in southern Lebanon.
Meanwhile, Roya’s correspondent reported significant destruction in the Lailaki area due to simultaneous heavy airstrikes on Beirut’s southern suburbs. ‘Israeli’ forces have also advised residents to stay at least 500 meters away from the targeted areas.
